$75.00

That was the price that the gas pump read when I pulled up to it yesterday after someone else had just used it to fill up their 21-gallon tank.

$75.00

This is nuts.

remember when 21 gallons cost 21 bucks to fill up? the u.s. average in the months before bush was elected was 99 cents per gallon. When I bought my Saturn I paid 10 bucks to fill up from empty but usually put about 7 bucks in each time to top up from 1/4 full.

Back when I drove my blazer, that was a 30 gallon tank. That would have cost me 110 bucks to fill up if I was still driving it today.

The other day I went to a gas station and they didn't have card readers on their machine so I went to the island booth to pay. I handed them my card and said "25 on pump 6." The guy looked at my card and said "We have a 35 dollar minimum on credit card purchases." 35 dollar minimum?!?

If you ask me, a lot of these fluctuations in price are the result of the refineries doing that Enron thing where you dial back production to create supply/demand shortages.

I couldn't agree with you more. From what I've heard, estimates are that if we bomb Iran, prices will go up to about $10.00 a gallon.

I'm flabbergasted at that $35.00 limit thing you ran into. I haven't heard of that before. I have heard repeatedly stories on the news of gas station owners across the country beginning to ask "Where the hell is all this money going? It sure isn't going into my pockets..."
